Stranger Things

One thing I really do love, are the original series' on Netflix. (The latest one being Stranger Things) When this first came to Netflix, I heard nothing but rave reviews from everyone I know but I really didn't think I'd like it due to science-fiction not usually being my thing. However, as it also fell under the horror/thriller genre (and the fact that Winona Ryder stars in it, who I adore) I gave it a go and made my boyfriend watch it too, we both really enjoyed it and as a result, binged watched it very quickly.

The story starts on November 6th 1983 in a small town called Hawkins, Indiana. It follows a group of four boys, who are playing a campaign of Dungeons and Dragons. On the bike ride home, one of the friends (Will Byers) disappears completely into thin air. Over the 8 episodes, (The Vanishing of Will Byers, The Weirdo on Maple Street, Holly Jolly, The Body, The Flea and the Acrobat, The Monster, The Bathtub and The Upside Down) you witness the three other boys (Mike, Dustin and Lucas) band together to try and find their friend. Luckily, they meet a girl called Eleven on their travels, who has psychokinetic powers and helps them significantly with their mission. After little to no help from the police department to find Will, you also see Will's distraught mother, older brother and the small town's alcoholic sheriff launch their own investigation to finally find out what's happened to Will and how he could disappear without a trace.

My favourite thing about the show is that it has various different genres. The children focused on an 80's adventure much like the Goonies; The teenagers a horror and the adults an anti-government drama and it all worked together so well! My three ultimate favourites and who completely made it for me were: Gaten Matarazzo, Milly Bobby Brown and especially Winona Ryder, her acting was absolutely superb and the use of fairy lights as a way of communicating with Will was brilliant.

After the huge success that came from the first season, it was recently announced that season two will hit our screens sometime in 2017 with 9 episodes (Madmax, The Boy Who Came Back To Life, The Pumpkin Patch, The Palace, The Storm, The Pollywog, The Secret Cabin, The Brain and The Lost Brother)
Have you watched Stranger Things? What were your thoughts?

Love, S
