Countdown To Halloween // Day Eight

Welcome back to day eight of my countdown to Halloween series, where I share all of my favourite Halloween films. Today's film is...

The film follows the brilliant Addams Family: Gomez (Raul Julia), Morticia (Anjelica Huston), Wednesday (Christina Ricci), Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) their Grandmother (Judith Malina) and Lurch (Carel Struycken) as a man arrives claiming to be Fester, the long lost brother of Gomez. Everyone is absolutely thrilled until Fester cannot seem to recall any of the details or memories of his childhood, so Morticia becomes convinced that he may be a fraud, much to Gomez's dismay...

The Addams Family (1991) dir. Barry Sonnenfeld is always a must watch for me around this time of year because it's always been such a childhood favourite. From its gothic themes to its great production design, its attention to detail and its music and extremely dark humour, it has all the ingredients for the perfect light-hearted Halloween movie.

The film is based on characters that were first originally created by Charles Addams in the New Yorker as a comic strip and they were later brought to life with the 1960's TV series which seemed to be very popular but alas, I haven't seen it and I don't think it would ever be something I'd watch to be honest because for me, the cast in the 1991/1993 films are the Addams Family and it would not feel right to see other people playing the roles.

Overall, I love this film and if you're on the lookout for the perfect family-friendly Halloween films, add this to your list.

"What are you, darling? Where's your costume?"
"This is my costume. I'm a homicidal maniac. They look just like everybody else."

Also, I'm sorry if this post is a little shorter than usual, my Chronic Fatigue and SAD are really starting to set in now and I'm struggling a little bit. Probably the worst thing about the colder months!
